Thick snowflakes float in front of the shop window, it’s frosty outside. But it’s getting much colder. Inside the store, people get ready for the ice box. Take off everything except underwear, gloves and rubber slippers – and just shiver a bit at the thought of what is about to happen. The almost naked body is exposed to extreme cold for three minutes, from minus 110 to minus 150 degrees. Sarah Amann, owner of the Cryopoint Store on Munich’s Frauenstraße, has a hot tip before going into the shock freezer: “Leave your socks on!”
