In 2014 Anselm Pahnke traveled to Cape Town and started cycling. His tour took him 40,000 kilometers through 40 countries. He slept in a tent, spent less than five euros a day, drove through the Sahara, crossed the Himalayas and finally ended his journey in Australia. Pahnke recorded his experiences with a small travel camera. The film “Elsewhere. Alone in Africa” was made from the recordings. It was the most-watched German-language documentary in cinemas in 2019. Today, the 32-year-old builds tiny houses, performs as a speaker and continues to ride – still on the bike he started in Cape Town.
