They want to prevent a new evacuation by the police. This Friday morning, the pro-Palestinian mobilization continues at Sciences Po Paris. Students spent the night in the historic school building and began blocking its main entrance.
Keffiyehs on their heads, Palestinian flags hanging on the railings and slogans in favor of the Palestinian struggle, students who spent the night in the establishment were visible this Friday morning in the windows of 27 rue Saint-Guillaume, the historic headquarters of the school .
Stopping “the repression of pro-Palestinian voices on campus”
Trash cans and construction equipment obstruct the main entrance to Sciences Po Paris, which benefits from a vast campus in the center of the capital, split into several locations. A few dozen students are present in the street.
The committee calls in particular for “the clear condemnation of Israel’s actions by Sciences Po” and “the end of collaborations” with all “institutions or entities” deemed complicit “in the systemic oppression of the Palestinian people”. He also calls for an end to “the repression of pro-Palestinian voices on campus.”
On Wednesday evening, around ten tents were set up in the courtyard of another building in the establishment, before the police came to dislodge the activists and sympathizers of the Palestinian cause.
Crif judges the movement “dangerous”
The mobilization comes as several American universities are caught in the turmoil caused by the conflict in Gaza.
This Friday, the president of Crif, Yonathan Arfi, reacted to this mobilization, deeming the pro-Palestinian movement among students in France “dangerous”, while emphasizing that there was “nothing massive” at Sciences Po Paris.
“It’s dangerous because the university has a symbolic function in our societies. What happens in universities does not only concern the student world, but radiates throughout our political and intellectual life and produces effects on a generation,” he said on LCI the president of the Representative Council of Jewish Institutions of France (Crif).
