RB Leipzig probably wanted him, but FC Bayern will get him: Spain’s offensive talent Zaragoza is moving to Munich in the summer of 2024.

FC Bayern Munich is strengthening itself for the new season with the Spanish offensive jewel Bryan Zaragoza. The 22-year-old is moving from FC Granada to the Bundesliga, as the German football record champions announced.

Bayern will then give the striker a five-year contract until June 2029. The “Sportbuzzer” portal and the TV channel Sky had previously reported on the transfer that Bayern, Granada and the player agreed on.

“Bryan is one of the high-flyers in Spain and has been on our radar for a long time. He will expand our offensive options,” said Bayern’s sporting director Christoph Freund and went on to praise: “Bryan Zaragoza is a strong, very fast and extremely agile winger who can play on both sides “He’s unpredictable, dangerous to score and very good in one-on-one situations.”

The series champion did not reveal financial details about the transfer. The media reports mention a transfer fee of 15 million euros, which is even higher than the transfer fee of 14 million euros fixed in an exit clause. The Spanish broadcaster El Chiringuito TV first reported on the deal.

Other clubs also wanted the talent

According to reports, Bundesliga rival RB Leipzig also wanted to bring in the left winger as a successor to Swede Emil Forsberg, who was moving to the sister club in New York in the winter. The English Premier League club FC Brentford was also considered interested.

Zaragoza, who is only 1.64 meters tall, made his debut for the Spanish national team in October and is one of the league’s positive surprises of the season. Zaragoza, who can also play in the center, has played 51 competitive games for Granada so far. He scored ten goals and three assists – five goals and two assists this season alone.

“We wish him much success with Granada FC for the rest of the season and look forward to him joining us in the summer,” said Freund.
