Transavia will charge for cabin baggage

No more “low cost” air travel where cabin baggage is free. The airline of the Air France-KLM group, Transavia, has announced that cabin baggage will become chargeable on its flights. “We are going to charge you for having cabin baggage on board while we were the only low cost one to offer this service for free,” announced Olivier Mazzucchelli, CEO of Transavia France in the columns of Figaro Tuesday.

By imitating its competitors, such as Ryanair or EasyJet, Transavia hopes to increase its punctuality. Indeed, large hand luggage like small suitcases take time to store in the spaces provided for this purpose, sometimes delaying the takeoff of the aircraft. The company therefore mentions better fluidity thanks to this device. However, the entry into force of this new paid option has not yet been defined.

Short and medium-haul specialist, Transavia, which transported 13 million people in 2023, has expanded its network in recent years, from Dubai to Cape Verde via Luxor (Egypt) and Rovaniemi (Finland), but also in France, more than 200 connections in total.
