In an accident in Neustadt am Rübenberge (Hanover region), three young people died early on Sunday morning. Her car was hit by a train at a half barrier.

According to the police, the victims are the 22-year-old driver from Hanover, a 22-year-old woman from Hildesheim and a 20-year-old from Neustadt. According to the police, there were 38 passengers and six railway employees on the train. A passenger on the train was slightly injured. The train driver was unharmed but needs to be looked after by an emergency chaplain, police said.

Continued delays in rail traffic
The police and fire brigade were on site in large numbers in the morning. As a railway spokeswoman said, the car wreck could be cleared from the rails in the late morning. The route was reopened shortly thereafter. The railway line was temporarily completely closed between Hanover and Bremen. Regional transport was replaced by buses, and some long-distance connections between Hanover and Oldenburg were canceled or diverted. According to the Rail there may still be delays.
