Who won? Who will what That’s always the thinking as soon as a coalition agreement is ready. Soon, however, practical constraints, Putin and similar beings will check whether the partners are really partners.
It’s nice to recognize familiar patterns. After every federal election and especially after the formation of a government coalition, sports reporting dominates. It’s the same again this time: Who prevailed in the coalition agreement? Who will be nominated for the cabinet? Are the fans, i.e. the members of the coalition parties, certain or only partially behind the new team? Do you notice so little of the new coach Scholz because he’s actually a grunt who doesn’t like to talk, or is he concentrating on the next big game, the government statement? And, even less interesting, do the relegated members of the CDU really try again with Huub Stevens, i.e. with Friedrich Merz?
