Traffic jams at the weekend: Which routes are particularly affected – Bavaria

The ADAC expects long traffic jams again next weekend. “Even on the first weekend in August, it will be jam-packed on Germany’s autobahns,” predicted the motorists’ club in Munich on Monday. “Even in neighboring countries, the traffic jams are hardly shorter than on the previous weekend.” On the way home are many vacationers from North Rhine-Westphalia, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Schleswig-Holstein, Berlin, Brandenburg, Hamburg and Scandinavia, where the summer holidays will end shortly. Conversely, many vacationers from Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria are on the move, where the second week of vacation is only beginning. “If you are flexible, you can drive during the week, for example on Tuesday or Wednesday,” recommended the ADAC.

The following are likely to be particularly heavy traffic jams in both directions: trunk roads to and from the North and Baltic Seas, the greater Hamburg, Cologne, Berlin and Munich areas, as well as numerous motorways, especially north-south connections such as the A 9 and the A 93 and the A95.

In neighboring countries, the Tauern, Fernpass, Arlberg, Rhine Valley, Brenner, Karawanken and Gotthard routes and the trunk roads to and from the Italian, French and Croatian coasts are at risk of congestion. In Austria, increased traffic is to be expected along the Inntal, Tauern and Brenner autobahns due to the blocking of alternative routes.

The ADAC recommends waiting times of 60 minutes at the borders of some neighboring countries, and significantly more for trips to Slovenia, Croatia, Greece and Turkey and back. When entering and leaving Germany, the three motorway border crossings Suben (A 3 Linz – Passau), Walserberg (A 8 Salzburg – Munich) and Kiefersfelden (A 93 Kufstein – Rosenheim) are particularly at risk of congestion.
