What did Nicola Sturgeon do after she resigned as Prime Minister? Well, she was preparing for her driving test. It is never too late to “do something new,” Sturgeon wrote on Instagram.

“At the tender age of 53,” as she wrote on Instagram, the former Scottish head of government Nicola Sturgeon got her driving license. A good eight months after her resignation, Sturgeon posted a photo of herself with a certificate of her successful driving test. She passed on the first attempt.

“This experience has taken me far out of my comfort zone but hopefully proves that it is never too late in life to do something new,” the Scottish National Party (SNP) politician wrote on the social network.

Sturgeon emphasized that the success would not have been possible without her driving instructor Andy MacFarlane, who posed with her for the camera. She surprisingly announced her retirement in mid-February after more than eight years in office. In March she announced that she was taking driving lessons. Sitting behind the wheel meant “gaining a bit of personal freedom,” she said at the time.

Sturgeon continues to sit as an ordinary member of the Scottish regional parliament. She was recently targeted by the investigative authorities because of possible financial tricks by the SNP, but she rejects the allegations.
