The consumer electronics industry recently had to accept losses. Exhibitors at the International Consumer Electronics Fair in Berlin are now hoping for better times.

From small robots to smart solutions for household problems: at the International Consumer Electronics Fair (IFA) in More than 2,000 exhibitors are presenting their technical innovations in Berlin this year. Europe’s largest trade fair for consumer electronics and household technology opened for private visitors on Friday, after trade visitors had been able to find out about the innovations at the Berlin exhibition center since Wednesday. The organizers are expecting around 180,000 visitors up to and including Tuesday.

At the start on Friday, Berlin’s Governing Mayor Kai Wegner (CDU) and Economics Senator Franziska Giffey (SPD) also got an idea of the exhibits and tested a refrigerator, among other things. The two politicians took a seat on an e-bike and an e-moped at a French manufacturer.

The consumer electronics and household technology industry has had a difficult few months and hopes that business will now pick up significantly again. In view of the high inflation, money is no longer so easy for many consumers. The high level during the corona pandemic, in which manufacturers of televisions, sound systems and other consumer electronics were able to increase their sales worldwide with double-digit growth rates, was recently not maintained.
