Torn catenary: restricted rail traffic in Hamburg NDR.de – News

Status: 12/17/2022 10:01 am

Due to a torn overhead line on the Elbe bridges in Hamburg, an ICE and metronome remained on the route late on Friday evening. The fire brigade brought almost 35 passengers to safety.

The rescue operation lasted a total of two hours. The emergency services accompanied the affected people across the tracks. You could then transfer to a bus.

The ICE, which had stopped just behind the metronome, was able to return to Harburg station. There and at other train stations, nothing worked on the rails at night because the regional trains could no longer run.

A track released again

A track has now been reopened on the affected section between Harburg and the main station. It is not yet clear how long it will take for the damage to be repaired.

Regional and long-distance traffic affected

Passengers in regional and long-distance traffic must therefore expect restrictions and delays throughout the day. Everyone who travels with ICE, EC, IC or metronome is affected. Passengers are asked to switch to the S-Bahn.

Further repair work due to ICE accident

There are also other restrictions for train passengers: After the collision of an ICE with a car on Tuesday at the level crossing in Rönneburg, repair work is also taking place there. Since Saturday up to and including Tuesday, the train connection between Hamburg-Harburg and Buchholz (Harburg district) has been blocked from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. as indicated by a message from the metronome.

Among other things, the hourly regional trains of the metronome are affected. A bus is to replace the route between Harburg and Buchholz every 25 minutes. Trains on lines RE4/RB41 are diverted via Jesteburg during the day without stopping in Buchholz.
