We close (February 28), we reopen (March 15), then we close (this Sunday). For a month, the banks of the Garonne have served as a barometer for the Covid-19 epidemic in Toulouse. In a joint statement, the town hall and the prefecture of Haute-Garonne announced this Saturday evening that these highly prized places in good weather would again be inaccessible to the public, at least until Monday, April 12 inclusive.

In question, according to the document: “the presence of very many people seated and gathered”, without respecting barrier gestures (wearing a mask, distancing) but with “a strong consumption of alcohol”.
The maximum alert threshold exceeded again
“This situation is clearly likely to greatly accelerate the spread of the virus in the city of Toulouse, even though the incidence rate is increasing rapidly there since it again exceeds the maximum alert threshold (264.5 positive cases for 100,000 inhabitants, against 212.2 two weeks earlier). “
The prefect Etienne Guyot and the mayor Jean-Luc Moudenc therefore implemented their threats, since they had indicated during the reopening of the banks that a new closure remained a possibility.
