“We are heading towards a dramatic situation…” In Sautron, a town located northwest of Nantes, concern is mounting among members of Aspec. This association of residents, created just a few months ago, is mobilizing against the Brangeon company’s project to set up an industrial waste disposal center at the entrance to the town. “Far too close to homes, annoys Jean-Pierre Abgrall, president of the association. The first houses are a few tens of meters away… There is a whole housing estate, with around 200 people living there. A hotel residence too! »
What these residents fear is obviously the nuisance associated with this activity and everything that could result from it, such as “the permanent parades of trucks” or “the installation of cranes”. “This type of waste collection center, intended for professionals, is much larger than those for the general public”, fears Jean-Pierre Abgrall, who warns of another risk. “There will inevitably be pollution problems,” says the association. A public meeting, Thursday evening
The town hall does not seem to see a good eye on this potential arrival either. Last October, she spoke out against the project of the Brangeon group, raising issues of safety and environmental protection. Since then, she has refused to sign the building permit, which the company is preparing to challenge by seizing the administrative court, says the Aspec association. The Brangeon group, which is also awaiting a green light from the prefecture, did not wish to respond to requests from 20 minutes.
Waiting, a petition, which has exceeded 2,000 signatures, was launched by the collective, which is asking for an impact study to be carried out. In the presence of city representatives, local residents organize a public meeting on the subject this Thursday evening in Sautron. They also embarked on the search for solutions, trying to identify the land, elsewhere in the metropolis, which could accommodate the famous waste disposal center.
