Tom Hanks helps his “Forrest Gump” co-star Gary Sinise, who works for the children of fallen soldiers.

For years, actor Gary Sinise (66) has campaigned for veterans of the US military and their families. One of his projects is Snowball Express. The initiative looks after the children and relatives of fallen soldiers. The highlight of the program is a five-day family excursion to Disney World each winter.

As in 2020, the trip had to be canceled this year due to the corona pandemic. As a replacement, Sinise set up a virtual event again. There were several stars, including Sinise’s friend and “Forrest Gump” colleague Tom Hanks, 65.

Tom Hanks tuned in via video, along with “Toy Story” co-star Tim Allen (68). They greeted the children in the voices of toy cowboy Woody (Hanks) and astronaut Buzz Lightyear (Allen).

Another Disney star was there with “Frozen” spokeswoman Kristen Bell (41). Also at the start for a good cause: gymnast Simone Biles (24) and “The Walking Dead” actor Norman Reedus (52).

Forrest Gump and Lieutenant Dan reunited

In 1994, Gary Sinise played alongside Tom Hanks in “Forrest Gump” Lieutenant Dan, who lost both legs in the Vietnam War. A year later, Hanks and Sinise appeared together again in front of the camera for the space drama “Apollo 13”.
