A push for the rescue of public service broadcasting, a reflection on the question of how big, diverse, opulent we would like public service broadcasting to be, that is a great idea, and it would have been especially in 2013. At that time, Tom Buhrow took over the directorship of WDR, and he can now also look back on two years and three months as a good-humored chairman of the ARD, on years of an unprecedented reform backlog, an ARD that, after allegations of wasting money, nepotism, program flattening and political influence on this program is in a permanent crisis.
