Through Europe at 550km/h: New super train floats over the rails
A new floating high-speed train is set to revolutionize freight and passenger transport on Europe’s railways. To this end, the Polish company “Nevomo” is integrating the latest magnetic levitation technology into existing rail networks. In contrast to conventional hyperloop technology in airless tubes, no complex new infrastructure needs to be created. However, a drive rail must be installed between the original rails and two additional rails must be built outside the conventional rail track. At the beginning of September, the system called “MagRail” reached an important milestone. During tests on a test track in Poland, the two-ton “MagRail” train managed to hover over the rails at up to 135 km/h. The company is optimistic. The first commercial version of the “MagRail” is planned for 2024. The express train will initially be used for freight transport and later for passenger transport.
