Three departments on orange alert for violent winds on Monday

It’s the calm before the storm. Hauts-de-France can enjoy sunny weather this Sunday which rings the first notes of spring, like the rest of France. But these clearings will not last and the weather will deteriorate from Monday, particularly in three departments in the north of the country.

The North, Pas-de-Calais and the Somme have thus been placed on orange vigilance by Meteo France for the risk of violent winds which should start to blow in the middle of the day and calm down around 6 p.m. These gales could “generate violent gusts”, which are likely to reach 90/100 km/h or even occasionally 110 km/h, warns the forecasting organization.

Avoid travel

Residents are advised to avoid going out during this period which may cause power outages or falling trees or tree branches.

This deterioration in the weather is explained by the passage of a disturbance which should also cause showers across the entire region during the afternoon and early evening.
