Three dead in Conakry in celebrations after Guinea’s victory over Gambia

Three people died and several dozen others were injured in Conakry in road accidents, as supporters of the Guinea team celebrated Friday evening’s victory against Gambia at the African Cup of Nations, a AFP learned this Saturday from a police source. Two vehicles traveling at high speed collided, causing the tragedy.

Young people, in excess on motorcycles, playing rodeo or perched on the hood of vehicles, occupied the arteries of Conakry, during these demonstrations during which several dozen people in total were injured, according to the same source.

Guinean supporters took to the streets at the end of the match played in Yamoussoukro, against Gambia (1-0), a success which allows Guinea to move significantly closer to the round of 16 of the African Cup of Nations, which takes place in Ivory Coast.
