Three dead after head-on collision with ambulance – Bavaria

Three people were fatally injured in a collision between an ambulance and a car near Geslau in Central Franconia on Wednesday. Two died on the spot, another person a little later in the hospital, said a police spokesman.

According to the police, the car had previously encountered oncoming traffic for reasons that were not yet clear and had crashed head-on into the ambulance. An 89-year-old patient who is said to have been in the back of the car died on the spot. The 79-year-old passenger in the car also died at the scene of the accident, the spokesman said. The 69-year-old driver of the car died in hospital from his injuries.

The two paramedics, a 22-year-old at the wheel and a 19-year-old, suffered serious injuries. The police have started investigations. Geslau is around 60 kilometers west of Nuremberg in the Middle Franconian district of Ansbach.
