Three occupants of a fishing boat died at sea after their boat capsized, we learned on Tuesday from the maritime prefecture. The bodies were found overnight from Monday to Tuesday in the harbor of Boulogne-sur-Mer, in Pas-de-Calais. It was the relatives of the three boaters who gave the alert to the regional surveillance and rescue center (Cross) Gris-Nez. A pleasure boat of the “fishing-promenade” type, which had gone to sea from Ambleteuse, in Pas-de-Calais, had not returned in the evening.
Several ships mobilized
A fishing vessel and several private vessels sailing near the area of disappearance were mobilized to carry out searches, as well as aerial means. “In the middle of the night, it was finally a person on land who reported that an upturned ship’s hull was drifting in the harbor of the port of Boulogne-sur-Mer”, underlines the maritime prefecture, in a press release. The upturned hull was empty and the lifeless bodies of the three occupants who drowned were found nearby.
The maritime prefecture recalls the importance of preparing for sea trips, checking the weather and your equipment before setting out to sea.
