Three basins go on “enhanced alert”

Last stage before the last stage of the “crisis”. In the Alpes-Maritimes, the catchment areas of Cagne, Estéron and Paillon are on “enhanced alert” drought, announced the prefecture this Friday. As a result, new restrictions come into force for the 49 municipalities concerned. And this, a priori until October 31, according to the decree which was published this week.

More than a month and a half ago, the prefect already placed the entire department at the alert stage. But, “since then, the situation has worsened further: the month of March has a rainfall deficit of -76%”, note the State Services.

Forbidden to water day and night

With areas more affected than others. In those concerned by this “enhanced alert”, it is forbidden to water day or night, except for recent plantations, to wash your car or your boat (stations equipped with high pressure equipment and an water remain authorized) as well as roads, terraces and facades with large water. The filling of swimming pools is prohibited.

The rest of the department, and in particular Nice, Cannes or Antibes, are maintained at the simple alert stage for the moment. “The prefect of the Alpes-Maritimes is now calling on the Maralpins to civic and responsible use of water resources to limit the probable tightening of measures restricting the use of water”, he supports in a communicated.
