Threads exceeds X number of users

This is a tipping point. In the United States, Threads, the social network launched by Mark Zuckerberg in July 2023, has just overtaken X, formerly Twitter, bought by Elon Musk. Worse, the Tesla owner’s social network would have lost almost a quarter of its users. Conversely, Threads is booming: +55% daily uses in the United States, going from 18 to 28 million. On a monthly basis, Meta’s social network, designed to be a direct competitor to X, announces 150 million users, compared to 130 to 140 million for the old Twitter.

Criticized for the aggressiveness of its Internet users as much as for the positions of its owner, X is therefore outdated. Especially since Threads has the luxury of not offering, for the moment, advertising on its platform. And since you need an Instagram account to register, it is through the photo and video sharing application (nearly 2 billion accounts by the end of 2023) that the new social network attracts the most new users.

Launched more than four months ago to 450 million consumers in the European Union, Threads can hope to reach one billion monthly users. History of cementing the place of Meta, the social network group owned by Mark Zuckerberg, with Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp and therefore Threads, as the Western leader in its field. The group claims 3.2 billion daily users.
