Mirco Nontschew: His last major appearance was in season 3 of “LOL”

Before his death, comedian Mirco Nontschew was still in the third season of “LOL – Last One Laughing”. This latest performance can now be seen on Prime Video. And his last words bring tears.
It was a big shock, not just for fans of the comedy format “LOL – Last One Laughing”: Comedian Mirco Nontschew was found dead in his apartment in Berlin on December 3, 2021. His death was completely unexpected, he was just 52 years old. An autopsy determined that he died of natural causes.
Now he can be seen for the last time, namely in the third season of “LOL – Last One Laughing”, which is currently running on the streaming provider Prime Video. In a small tab, Amazon warns of “alcohol consumption, sexual content and swear words”. But even before the opening credits, the screen stays black for a moment. “For Mirco” is written there and you know right away that this third season will be different from the previous ones. Finally. Because every sentence that Mirco Nontschew will say is suddenly in a different context. Each sentence could be the last on the big stage. In the opening credits he is still driving across the sea in a barrel with a “LOL flag”. At the beginning you can see him driving in the meanwhile well-known elevator to the loft to the other participants.
“LOL – Last One Laughing”: Mirco Nontschew’s last appearance
He whistles, everyone can hear him from afar. He wears a grey-green sweater, gray jeans and white sneakers. And he says: “Maybe I should have done sport again. I don’t know. But others said: He looks pretty good. What the hell. I’m here.” A sentence that makes your stomach feel queasy. “I’m here,” he says on the show, but it’s not anymore.
Carolin Kebekus says at the beginning: “After that we will all have a very special relationship with each other. Because it will be as if we had had a bad accident together.” It’s not a bad accident, of course, but Mirco Nontschew’s last big performance. And he will surely be remembered by the other nine “LOL” participants. When Michael “Bully” Herbig explains the rules, it’s Mirco Nontschew who wants to lighten the mood. “A question of a purely technical nature,” he says. “Is there a blind spot in the area?” There certainly isn’t, there are at least 40 cameras that detect every little twitch in the mouth area. And if you’re caught laughing or smiling twice, you’re kicked out.
Unfortunately, Mirco Nontschew is also the first to laugh. The video evidence shows it: “Sorry, I didn’t even notice. That was Anke’s moose.” Anke Engelke had belched. He’s annoyed with himself: “Shit, I’m disappointed too, dude, I forgot that, it doesn’t exist, ey.”
And it seems to be this early laugh, this warning, that drives Mirco Nontschew afterwards. He makes the first episode “A Moose on the Titanic” his show. Attack seems to be his best defense. And Anke Engelke encourages him: “The only thing we can do now, Mirco, is throw others out.”
“But I need a little time,” he says and disappears behind the glittering curtain. And as a spectator you know: He didn’t have much time left and suddenly the laughter freezes on your face. He dresses up in a wig with long hair and bangs, puts on a purple blazer and suit trousers, puts on a black mustache and picks up a microphone. He says to himself: “But it’s cool what he’s doing, cool guy”. In the head then the correction as a spectator: made. And you don’t know whether to laugh or cry. Hazel Brugger says of him: “I knew he would make noise.” And indeed: he chirps and whistles, squeaks with his sneakers. What he is so good at and what makes him funny. When leaving, he runs against the door frame. Nobody laughed when he appeared, but not because it wasn’t funny, but because it’s forbidden. In the changing room he then says: “They don’t appreciate it at all, that’s it.” He comes back out and does it again.
Mirco Nontschew says: “Because I don’t have time”
Axel Stein asks him, hitting himself in the face with a pink fly swatter: “Why are you doing that, Mirco, what’s the matter with you, why are you doing it?” And Mirco Nontschew says: “Because I don’t have time” and looks at his watch. Later, when he wants to take off his purple suit trousers, he can’t. First he tries a break dance and then his colleague Hazel Brugger has to pull on his trouser leg with all his might.
And indeed it is also Axel Stein who makes him laugh a second time with his performance. And yes: It is also Mirco Nontschew who has to go first in episode 2. Not only did he have too little time in real life, it was also too little in “LOL”. “Mirco, no,” call the others. And he says: “I definitely didn’t concentrate enough. It’s a shame, shit, and I still had such good things.” Herbig says: “They’re still to come” and doesn’t know how wrong he is with that.
