Progress from the incident of WBTC stolen in a scam valued at $71 million or approximately 2,500 million baht has begun to be distributed to multiple digital wallets.
The hacker who had taken 1,155 WBTC immediately began converting it to 23,000 ETH and was hidden in the scammer’s wallet for six days.
On May 8, blockchain investigative company PeckShield noticed that some of the stolen funds had been laundered. where the scammers begin dividing the stolen money into several parts and start sending it to multiple digital wallets.
Scammers use approximately 400 digital wallets to distribute stolen funds in hopes of reducing traceability. The money was eventually distributed among more than 150 wallets. However, all stolen funds can still be traced back to the scammer for now.
