“They want to silence me”… After condemning the State for the rapes of her niece, she is prosecuted

It has been more than four years since the trial before the Assize Court of Ille-et-Vilaine ended. Karine has lived for four years with the meager satisfaction of having seen Roland Blaudy be sentenced to thirty years in prison for having raped her for several years under the barely averted eyes of his parents. Four years since the parents of this young woman were found guilty of this complicity in pedocrime committed in their apartment in Rennes by one of their “friends”. A victim of the worst atrocities as a child, Karine was also the victim of the incapacity of justice, magistrates, police and child protection. Karine should never have grown up with a mother who had already been sentenced to eight years in prison for killing her baby with 180 stab wounds. And yet…

The young woman, now 25, has managed the feat of rebuilding herself. For this, she was able to condemn the State for gross negligence and denial of justice for not having been able to protect her. A fight that she was able to carry out thanks to the extraordinary energy of her aunt, who has since adopted her. To make the voices of all the children heard who we do not want to listen to, Laurence Brunet-Jambu had chosen to publicize her fight in 2018, alerting the media to the incredible failures of which her niece had paid the price. Consequence: this pedocrime trial had been the subject of strong media coverage, denouncing the inaction of stubborn magistrates or failing social workers.

Four years after this trial, Laurence Brunet-Jambu has just learned that she was being prosecuted for having said too much. “They want to silence me,” she proclaims in her usual outspokenness. In 2019, she did not hesitate to cite certain magistrates or doctors by name in her book “SignalementS”. People who are sometimes still posted in the Rennes region.

“I don’t understand why we are so desperate”

The facts are as follows. A few days before the start of the trial at the assizes, Laurence Brunet-Jambu had sent a CD to the press containing documents from the investigation of Karine’s case. One of the CDs had been lost and had been sent to the then district attorney’s office. The Rennes prosecutor’s office accuses him of having “disseminated the procedure to third parties, in this case press organs”. “But the investigation had been closed for months, chokes Me Grégory Thuan, one of the whistleblower’s lawyers. Legally, the investigating chamber was divested, the order for referral to the assize court was known. I don’t understand why we persist like that, especially more than four years after the events.

The Strasbourg lawyer even believes that “the prosecution is taking a risk” by maintaining its legal proceedings. Struck during the trial at the assizes, the courts of Rennes bear some responsibility for the ordeal suffered by Karine when she was only 4 or 5 years old. “I think that justice lacked foresight”, admitted the Advocate General before the Assize Court in 2018. A finding confirmed by a damning report by the defender of rights published especially on this case. The hearing will take place at the end of November before the Criminal Court of Rennes. Asked, the prosecution had not responded to our request.
