The Cup final turns into a general brawl between supporters on the pitch

The Dantesque scenario of the Czech Republic Cup final between Viktoria Plzen and Sparta Prague (1-2) quickly gave way to a mind-boggling invasion of the pitch on Wednesday evening in Plzen. Trailing 0-1 and reduced to ten five minutes from the end of the match, the locals managed to equalize thanks to Tomas Chory (1-1, 85th), before rival Sparta won the trophy in added time on a goal from Veljko Birmancevic (1-2, 90th+1).

The match had previously been interrupted twice, due to numerous projectile throws on the Sparta side after a goal was denied at 0-0, then after an explosion heard among the Viktoria Plzen ultras. The post-match of this clash classified as high risk by the authorities then went completely wrong, with clashes everywhere between supporters on the pitch.

The two rivals meet again on Sunday

In images from Czech television, we see a man on the ground being beaten by two opposing fans. These scenes of pure hooliganism, which partly involved men wearing masks covering their entire faces, were hardly stopped by the police present en masse in Plzen.

Among the most mind-blowing sequences of the evening, a television set was targeted live… by throwing a plastic chair at the presenters. They were not injured, unlike many spectators present. As the schedule is well done, the two rivals meet again on Sunday (4 p.m.), this time in Prague, on the final day of the championship. Good luck to the authorities for this final bouquet announced in the stands, or even on the pitch.
