They survived the terror in Madrid – how life continues afterwards

March 11, 2004, shortly before eight in the morning: Within three minutes, a total of ten explosive devices exploded on several trains in Madrid. 191 people die. They are the most serious Islamist attacks in Europe to date. Raquel Gómez and Luis Ahijado were on board the trains at the time – and got away. In the star-Documentary “Survivors” tells about their life after survival.

A neighbor had offered to give her a ride in her car that morning. But Raquel Gómez refused and took the train into the city. On the way her friend Bea got on board. Shortly after the doors of the carriage closed again at Atocha station, the bomb exploded. She tore off Raquel’s left leg and splinters penetrated her stomach. Bea, who had been standing next to her, died instantly.
