There are always good reasons to look for bars near the main station: the train has been canceled and you don’t want to spend time on a drafty platform, your boyfriend or girlfriend is arriving by train and you don’t want to wait long after you Search locally, or the train station is simply the best for everyone.
Even beyond these pragmatic considerations, there are a few bars in the Bahnhofsviertel that are worth a visit. Seven tips.
Boilerman Bar
The Boilerman Bar is located on the first floor of the “25 Hours Hotel – The Royal Bavarian”. But it doesn’t want to be a hotel bar, but simply a classic bar to which anyone who would like to come is invited. Those responsible describe their “highballs,” i.e. short drinks that are mixed without a shaker and served in frozen glasses with golf ball-sized ice balls, as the “undisputed stars” on the menu.

Aperitivo Bar
The Aperitivo Bar is located in the same building as the Boilerman Bar. It closes at 6 p.m., which is why so-called “day drinking” is the focus of its concept. Guests can make themselves comfortable in wicker chairs while soft indie pop music plays. In addition to the classic drinks, there is also the option of ordering snacks from the Neni restaurant, which is also located on site.

Café Cosmos
A classic of the bar scene far beyond the Bahnhofsviertel. Anyone who comes to Café Kosmos knows what to expect: cheap beer, cramped spaces, student flair. It’s easy to get into conversation with other people here if you try to push your way from the entrance to the back area or towards the toilets. Landlord Florian Schönhofer has also made a name for himself beyond the actual bar business: During the corona pandemic, he started vaccination campaigns in the cosmos, and when Oktoberfest comes, he prohibits visitors wearing traditional costume.

Isarbar
There is also a bar in the Sofitel Bayerpost hotel, named after the river that flows through Munich. The Isarbar has been around since 2010, and anyone who enters it for the first time will notice the elegant ambience: the entrance hall is stylish, live jazz is sometimes played on the piano, and the room itself is bathed in a dim, warm, golden-brown light. The upscale quality is also reflected in the drink prices. Anyone who likes to drink whiskey and gin can be happy: there is a large international selection.

W XYZ bar
And another bar that is docked to a hotel, in this case the “Aloft” hotel on Bayerstrasse directly opposite the southern entrance to the station hall. The W There are also classic drinks such as Aperol Spritz, non-alcoholic cocktails or beer – and, depending on your hunger, small or large dishes to eat.

The carrot
When it comes to idiosyncratic opening times, “Die Karotte” can join forces with the Aperitivo Bar: The bar in the backyard of Goethestrasse 36 is only open on Thursdays. The people who stop here come here specifically; spontaneous visitors are less likely to find their way here because of the hidden location. If the weather is good, the outdoor area is open, but it must close at 10 p.m. Unusual: The bar has its own app through which you can collect “carrot coins” for which you get certain “benefits”.

Fireplace bar
Drinking cocktails by the fire – this is possible in the fireplace bar. It is also attached to a hotel, the “Eden Hotel Wolff”. The guests take a seat in seating groups made up of marble tables, on leather sofas and velvet armchairs, and with a bit of luck, and if there is little going on, also in front of the glass fireplace. When it comes to the range of spirits, the emphasis is on quality rather than quantity; in addition to classic cocktails such as the Bloody Mary, there are also some in-house creations.
