As Omicron began its conquest, many states resorted to harsh measures to contain the highly contagious variant of the corona virus. But in the meantime, Omikron has lost its terror for many.
Despite the extremely high number of cases, one country after the other is daring to return to normality – some briskly, others in cautious toddling steps. The Scandinavians are again at the forefront.
According to the Robert Koch Institute, 118 countries have been considered high-risk areas since Friday. For these countries, the Foreign Office expressly states “Warning is given against unnecessary tourist trips.” It is also important to find out about the current entry requirements for Germany before you leave or return.
Changes in the Corona entry regulation
On December 23, 2022, the second regulation to amend the coronavirus entry regulation came into force. This means that “people aged 6 and over must have a negative test result, proof of vaccination or proof of recovery upon entry,” says the RKI. “The general obligation to provide evidence applies regardless of the type of transport and regardless of whether a previous stay in a high-risk or virus variant area took place.” Every returning traveler must register on the website www.einreiseanmeldung.de previously registered digitally and uploaded the evidence.
In addition, those who have not been vaccinated must go into quarantine for ten days after entering Germany. After the fifth day of quarantine, it can be ended prematurely with a negative test result.
“Immediately before departure, please check whether the countries in which you have stayed in the last ten days before entering Germany are classified as risk areas,” says the RKI website.
