It was an encounter that plunged Corentin Hennebert into “chemsex”. This portmanteau term refers to the fact of combining drug use and sexual intercourse. “I met someone who ordered around ten grams per week and when that kind of quantity is put in front of me, I can’t stop.”

Corentin, who previously practiced “chemsex” every 3 to 6 months, sank very quickly. “I slept very little, I ate very little and I consumed drugs almost every day. The more it progressed, the more it was drugs and less sex because one took precedence over the other. »

For more than ten years, this practice has wreaked havoc within the gay community. Widely favored by dating applications, “chems” plans often extend over several days, from Friday evening to Monday morning.

Corentin traces his fight to escape addiction, from the most difficult moments when he weighed only 47 kilos and consumed every day, to the creation of a play, Amours Chimiques, which he sees as a therapy. According to him, there is a double difficulty in weaning from this practice since “on the one hand you have to stop using drugs and on the other hand you have to resume drug-free sexuality. It’s a bit like rehabilitation. »
