There is a risk of a fine: That’s why you shouldn’t use your garage as a workshop

Watch the video: There is a risk of a fine – if you use your garage as a workshop or storage room, it can get really expensive.

Instead of storing vehicles, many people use their garage as a workshop or to store various items. What most people don’t know is that they risk a fine.
Because: Garages are intended to relieve congestion on public traffic areas. Therefore, only registered vehicles are generally allowed to be in a garage. Official approval is required for permanent misuse. If damage occurs, for example due to a fire, the insurance may not pay because the garage was not operated properly. But what can really be in the garage? In addition to motor vehicles, accessories such as tires can also be stored. According to the owners’ association, items such as bicycles, lawn mowers or the grill should not be a problem as long as there is still enough space for a vehicle. Otherwise you risk a fine. Depending on the federal state, this can amount to up to €500.
