His costumes for “The One Grand Show” in Berlin’s Friedrichstadt-Palast caused a sensation a few years ago. Jean Paul Gaultier is also responsible for the stage design for a new show.

French fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier is helping to develop the new show at Berlin’s Friedrichstadt-Palast. The 71-year-old had already designed costumes for a previous production. This time he will take on the role of visual design director, according to a spokeswoman for the theater.

This means that he is responsible for costume and stage design together with others. The show, titled “Falling | In Love,” has a production budget of €14 million and is scheduled to premiere on September 21.

The theater on Berlin’s Friedrichstraße is known for its glittering revues. The new show is said to be about a character named You. In search of love, you are rejected and only want to sink into the ground. “The gray asphalt of civilization crumbles under his feet,” it said.

You plunge into another reality and see in the hidden garden of love what he has never seen before. The story was inspired by the Englishman William Blake (1757-1827)’s poem “The Garden of Love”.
