The young people of Nupes obtain the principle of a joint meeting on their program

The young people of Nupes, who presented last week their “common program” for the European elections in order to “put pressure” on their elders, obtained from the organizations the principle of a joint meeting to discuss their proposals, they said. they announced Friday.

Demanding a list of union of the left with the Europeans, the young rebels, young ecologists, young socialists and young Generations presented last Wednesday 166 measures for these elections, and met the leaders of the four organizations to present them to them.

According to Aurélien Le Coq, co-host of the Young Rebels, the party leaders accepted the principle of a joint meeting to work on these proposals.

Meetings with leaders

After meeting Générations and LFI, very favorable to a common list, the young people met on Thursday Olivier Faure, the boss of the PS, who repeated that in the event of a change of opinion of the other partners of the Nupes, he would be “open to an approach of dialogue and project confrontation”, according to the entourage of the Socialist First Secretary.

On the side of the EELV management, which refuses a common list, the young rebels saw on Friday the national secretary Marine Tondelier and the leader for the Europeans, Marie Toussaint. The latter welcomed the initiative and said she was “ready to discuss the substance of the proposals with the other heads of the lists”, according to her entourage.

But there is no question for her of “reopening the debate on a common list and relaunching the war of the left”, says the same source.

Fabien Roussel arrested

For Aurélien Le Coq, “we remain optimistic and we take things in order,” he explained to AFP. “We’ll see what the discussions come up with, it’s already a big step forward.” “Marie Toussaint says she is open to dialogue and ready to participate in a programmatic discussion,” rejoiced LFI in a press release, welcoming this “very good news”.

The young communists are not part of the initiative, but the young people of Nupes challenged PCF boss Fabien Roussel on Friday, hostile to a common list, during the Huma Festival. “We have the right to defend our ideals to the French,” he notably defended.

In a column published in Releasearound fifteen Nupes deputies are committed to continuing the youth initiative.
