The death of a young woman, who participated in the music festival targeted by Hamas commandos, was confirmed this Monday by the Israeli authorities and her mother.

The mother of young German-Israeli Shani Louk, kidnapped on October 7 by Hamas while participating in the “Tribe of Nova” music festival, announced her death to the German press agency DPA.

“Unfortunately, we learned yesterday that my daughter was no longer alive,” said Ricarda Louk, who believes her daughter was killed as early as October 7. “At least she didn’t suffer,” she added.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry confirmed the death of Shani Louk on

“Shani, who was kidnapped at a music festival and tortured and paraded around Gaza by Hamas terrorists, experienced unfathomable horrors,” the ministry added.

Identified by her family

The face of the young woman made the rounds in the media and social networks. In videos that circulated shortly after the attack began, the young woman had been filmed, unconscious and half nakedlying face down in the back of a pickup truck, brutalized by armed Hamas terrorists.

She had been identified by her family, who thought she was dead, thanks to her characteristic tattoos. Her family then received information claiming that the young woman was hospitalized in Gaza.

The music festival in which Shani Louk participated, five kilometers from Gaza, became the symbol of the attack on an unprecedented scale against Israel by Hamas, the Palestinian Islamist movement. Festival-goers were targeted by armed commandos. Some 270 people died, according to Israeli authorities.
