After three hours of hearing, the ax fell. The Commercial Court of Lille pronounced, Wednesday, September 28, the judicial liquidation of the sign of women’s ready-to-wear Camaïeu. “The court converts the receivership into judicial liquidation”, affirmed its president, arousing the tears of the employees who came to listen to the deliberations.

This decision leads to the loss of 2,600 jobs and the closure of 514 stores in France. HPB, lhe shareholder of the clothing brand, whose head office is located in Roubaix (North), had been placed in receivership last August. Joined by the Hauts-de-France Region and the metropolis of Lille, he had tried until the last moment to avoid this outcome asking for state aid.

The Minister Delegate for Industry Roland Lescure regretted this decision by the Commercial Court of Lille, citing a “great disappointment” with the AFP. “The takeover plan was very poorly informed with a business plan that fits on one page. I am not capable (under these conditions) of committing public funds. I regret that it has come to this”did he declare.

“The priority is the employees, if we had been able to ensure that this company would continue in the context of a recovery, with a credible recovery which would make it possible to support the employees, we would have done it”added the Minister, assuring that the State would continue to follow the file.
