The Volotea company settles permanently at Lesquin airport

Lille airport has not yet grown that it already attracts airlines. Indeed, this Monday, Volotea announced its intention to set up its 7th French base on the Lille-Lesquin tarmac. Concretely, this means that the company will operate more lines from the capital of Flanders.

Volotea does not land in Lille since the company has been present there since 2012. Its offer has been ramping up over the past ten years to make it the operator offering the most destinations, with flights to nine cities in France and, from June, to Cagliari, in Sardinia (Italy).

Upcoming international destinations

Basing an aircraft in Lille from April 1 will allow Volotea to further expand its offer with five new destinations, which will be unveiled later. According to the management of Lille airport, these will be “international destinations in high demand by our customers and passengers”.

The advantage is not only touristic since the company will recruit around thirty people to ensure the functioning of its operational base in Lille. In addition, the crews and mechanics will also be based in Lille.

It should be noted that after the departure of Hop, a low-cost subsidiary of Air France, only one company was based in Lille. These are TUI fly, two of which have the capital of Flanders as their home port during the summer season, between April and the end of October.
