Since October 7th, “The Voice of Germany” on TV!
The successful format has its origins in Holland, where it was broadcast for the first time in 2010 and has now been adapted in 47 countries. The casting format is also very popular in Germany and is entering its 11th season this fall.
The blind auditions are over, now it’s time for the Battles Rounds. But this year everything is different! In season 11, the talents compete against each other in groups of three in coaching and the coach has to decide on two of the three talents before the performance in the studio! Who will make it onto the battle stage?
All information about the new season, the coaches, talents, the moderators, the spin-offs and the concept of the show can be found here!
These are the coaches
Every season different musicians sit on the red chairs and buzz for their talents. As coaches, they fight for one of their protégés to become “The Voice”. There were icons such as Nena, Xavier Naidoo and Rea Garvey. It will be exciting again this season. Nico Santos and Mark Forster were already on the jury as coaches last season. The German pop singers Sarah Connor and Johannes Oerding will be there for the first time.
What a surprise: James Blunt performs for the four coaches!
Teams and Talents
Here you can find all the information about the coaches and which talents are in their teams:
This is how “The Voice” works
The concept is actually quite simple: The most successful artists in the country choose the best young talents, coach them and let them compete against each other in duels until only one remains as the next “Voice of Germany”.
Blind Auditions: Each season starts with the blind auditions. The coaches sit with their backs to the participants, who have to perform a song in front of an audience with a live band and convince the coaches with their singing. If the coaches inspire a talent, they press the buzzer and the chair rotates. The newcomer talent has won over the coach. If several chairs turn around, the talent can choose with whom he wants to go through the competition.
Battle Round: Next up are the Battle Rounds. The coaches prepare their team for a battle in which two or three talents perform a song together. But: only one of the candidates progresses in this round, the others are sorted out by their own coach. That means the talents not only sing with each other, but also against each other! With the so-called “steal deal”, the other coaches can bring talent into their team. Those who are particularly good get another chance.
Live shows: After the battle rounds, the talents from the various teams compete against each other in live shows and are selected by the audience, coaches and television viewers until the winner of the season is determined in the final. Especially here: the talents not only perform alone, there is always an appearance together with their coach.
Final: In the final, one talent from each team competes. In the end, the winner can look forward to a single release and sometimes a record deal for several albums.
“The Voice” comeback stage
In the online spin-off, the singer Elif, as an online coach, seeks out talents who have left the blind auditions, battles and sing-offs, who then compete against each other on the comeback stage. With two talents, Elif then moves into the semi-finals and meets the teams of the other coaches here. The Comback Stage means a second chance to win!
The moderators
Model Lena Gercke and TV presenter Thore Schölermann are moderating the eleventh season of the casting show. Both are old hands in show business and have been welcoming the talents to “The Voice of Germany” for several years.

“The Voice Kids” & “The Voice Senior”
In addition to the original “The Voice of Germany”, the format “The Voice Kids” has also been available in Germany since 2013, for children between the ages of 8 and 15, and since 2018 “The Voice Senior” for people over 60. As the name suggests, age plays a role as an application criterion for these variants. With the different formats, all age groups are covered and everyone is given the chance on the big stage.
