The trial for burglaries of rugby player Mohamed Haouas takes place this Friday

Mohamed Haouas, pillar of the XV of France, will appear this Friday, before the criminal court of Montpellier (Hérault), for a series of burglaries. The trial therefore takes place two days before the entry of his team into the Six Nations Tournament, against Italy. “As there is the match against Italy two days later, I will defend it” at the hearing had explained, in November, his lawyer, Marc Gallix.

The trial had been postponed several times: initially scheduled for January 29, 2021, it had been postponed to May 28, 2021, September 24, 2021, then January 7, 2022, for procedural reasons, in particular because the hearings were overloaded.

“It’s old, all that, for him”

Last September, Mohamed Haouas’s lawyer, Marc Gallix, explained that the French player was “disappointed” by the postponements of his trial because he wanted to “get rid of it” as soon as possible. “It’s old, all that, for him,” he added.

Arrested in 2014, and detained for four days in a remand center as part of the investigation into a series of burglaries of tobacco shops, Mohamed Haouas was sent to the criminal court for theft in a meeting with burglary.
