The Toulouse-Montpellier meeting interrupted for a quarter of an hour

The meeting between Toulouse and Montpellier on Sunday, on the occasion of the 9th day of Ligue 1, was interrupted fifteen minutes after the use of tear gas by the police in the Montpellier parking lot.

Classified at risk, the match was stopped in the 59th minute when the score was 4 goals to 1 in favor of Toulouse. The atmosphere became totally unbreathable for the public but also for the players, who had to return to the locker room.

A dozen arrests

The players came out fourteen minutes later to warm up before the match referee, Jérôme Pignard, ordered the game to resume immediately.

Earlier in the match, the stand adjoining the Montpellier parking lot had already been evacuated after the throwing of agricultural bombs by the Hérault supporters. According The Depeche du Midiat least a dozen Montpellier supporters were arrested by the police on the sidelines of the match, which was finally won 4 to 2 by Toulouse.

Thanks to these three points, the promoted offers a little air compared to the red zone (12th). For the Montpellier (10th), it is however the third defeat in four games.
