Faithful to one of his electoral promises, the ecologist town hall of Grégory Doucet confirmed on November 20 that the terraces of Lyon’s cafes and restaurants would no longer be heated. A municipal decree amending article 5 of the current regulation of terraces will be adopted in this sense.
Coming into force on March 31
The city of Lyon will ban any type of patio heating, whether fixed or mobile, to “encourage eco-responsible alternatives for traders”.
The ban will come into force on March 31, 2022, to take into account the health crisis that has impacted the sector.
