The man suspected of having stabbed a French woman in the Aosta Valley, Italy, was placed under extradition arrest pending his appearance before the Chamber of Instruction on Thursday April 18, the Radio France agency learned with the Grenoble public prosecutor’s office.

The 21-year-old man, of Italian nationality, was arrested on Wednesday April 10 in Lyon. He is suspected of having killed his partner, a young woman of 22, from Saint-Priest, in the suburbs of Lyon (Rhône). Italian justice has opened an investigation into premeditated murder. The Grenoble Court of Appeal executed the European arrest warrant issued by the Italian courts on Thursday afternoon, said the Grenoble public prosecutor’s office.

Furthermore, the suspect was presented to the judge of freedoms and detention (JLD) of the Grenoble judicial court for the violation of his judicial control, adds the Grenoble prosecutor. He was placed in pre-trial detention pending his judgment by the Grenoble criminal court scheduled for May 3.

Placed in pre-trial detention

The man had been wanted since the end of March for the violation of his judicial control pronounced on January 13 after his referral for “domestic violence” And “threat” on his victim so that she retracts her complaint. The judge of freedoms and detention had notified him of a ban on entering into contact with the victim and the obligation to respond to summons from the association responsible for monitoring the judicial review.

The body of the young woman was found on Friday April 5 in an abandoned chapel in La Salle, a town near the French and Swiss borders. His body had knife marks on his neck and abdomen.
