Professional or risky? Model Julian had to be treated in the clinic between two walks. Did he still get on?

The competition for “Germany’s Next Top Model” (Thursdays, 8:15 p.m., ProSieben or on joyn.de) is entering the decisive phase. And the fight for victory is being waged with ever-tougher conditions. The most recent example: Twin Julian (24) suffered a triple fracture of his finger. In order to protect his chances, he went to a clinic in the break between two walks. Was the effort worth it for him? Things went much better for other models. A former outsider in particular has been able to score more and more points since her makeover. In the end, two other models had to pack their bags.

Football mishap on Malibu Beach

How nice can a little break on the famous beach of Malibu Beach be! Until the next challenge, the models just wanted to relax on the fine sandy beach and let their hair down. Unfortunately, twin Julian didn’t succeed. During a fun football game with Linus (25), he caught the football egg so badly that he broke his little finger three times. Not a pretty sight and a mishap at the wrong time, as it turned out. Finally, Heidi Klum (50) came up with a challenging modeling program for her protégés.

Three walks on the 50 meter long runway

She had a runway of superlatives built in an industrial hall: the seemingly endless 50 meters were to be walked by the models in three consecutive fashion shows. The aim was to effectively showcase the extravagant collections of Berliner Esther Perbandt (49), Swiss designer Kevin Germanier (32) and his US colleague Ashton Michael (41). A tight program for her models, with which Heidi simulated an entire fashion week in a single challenge. The three fashion designers, who are also Heidi’s guest judges, have all already dressed the world’s A-list celebrities such as Taylor Swift (34), Lady Gaga (38) and Beyoncé (42).

Models ignore designer brief

Heidi hired German choreographer Micky Kurz, who lives in LA, as a trainer for the triple fashion show. He otherwise makes greats like Jennifer Lopez (54), Britney Spears (42) and Ricky Martin (52) sweat. He implemented the designers’ walking instructions with the models – not always successfully, as it turned out. Kevin Germanier is enjoying worldwide success with his extravagant upcycling fashion, which features long antennae and tentacles. He banned female models from posing too sexy at the end of the catwalk. Lydwine (21), Xenia (24) and Fabienne (20) in particular repeatedly violated the instructions. Lydwine received a nasty look from the designer when she fiddled too much with her expensive outfit during a break. An absolute no-go for every model.

Esther Perbandt’s extra challenge

The catwalk instructions from Berlin designer Esther Perbandt turned out to be a very special challenge for the models. With a helium balloon in hand, they should complete the first half of the catwalk slowly and expressively despite the driving electro beat. While the designer was visibly happy with opening model Jermaine (20), tied up in a tight corset dress, others stumbled with the task. Aldin (22), who was still one of the high flyers in the field on Tenerife, was regularly one of the shaky candidates in the past episodes. His nervousness before the triple runway show also increased noticeably.

“She’s better than the model in my show!”

What a setting for the three fashion walks: Heidi and the three designers watched the shows spellbound on the edge of the XXL catwalk. Four models in particular secured the jury’s praise. Since Lea (24) from Düsseldorf lost half of her hair length during a makeover, she has been moving more and more into the circle of favorites. Heidi once again described her as “very professional and very changeable”. So far, only a few people have had Sara (28) on their radar. During her walk, star designer Germanier blurted out: “She’s better than the model in my show!” Jermaine’s walks gave designer Ashton Michael and the other judges goosebumps. And Frieder (24) from Berlin is also becoming a final candidate. On the other hand, Lucas (24), as so often, had to worry about progressing. His proverbial nervousness on the catwalk did not go unnoticed by the jury.

Julian has himself taken to the clinic

Also among the wobbly candidates after the three walks were Xenia, Lydwine and Julian, who injured his hand. Even on his first walk he seemed unsteady and unfocused. Then nothing worked for him anymore. In severe pain, he ordered a taxi to a nearby accident clinic. Brother Luka was very worried about him: Would Julian miss his second walk for Esther Perbandt or even be eliminated altogether? But Julian gritted his teeth. With his fingers taped by the doctor, he arrived on set just minutes before his second show and was styled. Even if his performance seemed inhibited again: Julian gave everything for his chance to advance.

Lucas and Lydwine are eliminated

The illustrious jury made the final decision together. As the clear winners of the Mini Fashion Week, they honored Lea, Sara, Frieder and Jermaine, who brilliantly opened Esther Perbandt’s show. Inspired by the highlight design of every global fashion show, she enthusiastically shouted to him: “You were my bride!” “It only goes on for one of you,” it was said between Xenia and Lydwine. Neither had implemented what designer Germanier had imagined. Xenia just managed to get through to the next round, and it was over for Lydwine. Lucas had to settle for tenth place in the men’s field; he was eliminated. Star designer Ashton Michael once again showed him his potential: “On paper, you’re my model. With your tattoos and your appearance, I would normally book you. But on the catwalk you’re too cerebral.” For twin Julian, his ability to suffer was worth it. Just like brother Luka, he is in the next round.
