The State revises its commitment to aid in the renovation of schools upwards and confirms the “laboratory schools”

Money is streaming down hard on Marseille in recent weeks. After the announcement yesterday of a plan to 368 million euros for the city’s hospitals, Benoît Payan, who is accompanying Jean-Castex this morning on his Marseille tour, announced that the State will provide up to 400 million euros in aid for the renovation of schools. An amount greater than the 254 million euros voted in the 2022 financing law by Parliament. The additional funds come in particular from Anru (National Agency for Urban Renovation) and the Sustainable Development Fund.

In its entirety, the plan provides for 1.2 billion euros to renovate 174 schools. The signed commitment protocol was signed on Tuesday morning, said the mayor of Marseille in a press conference held in a school in the 3rd arrondissement.

There should be laboratory schools

In addition, it was also specified that the experimentation of the “choice of the teaching team” by the school directors concerns 58 schools in Marseille. This measure is far from unanimous. Benoît Payan, in an interview given to The Marseillaise a few weeks ago, had tried to bury this idea.
