The south-east in orange vigilance for rain-flood and thunderstorms

The rain continues on its way. After the precipitation which hit the west of France and in particular the Loire-Atlantique, placed in red vigilance on Saturday, only the south-east remained on alert for rain-flood and thunderstorms on Sunday, with seven departments on orange vigilance.

In addition to Ardèche, Bouches-du-Rhône, Gard, Lozère and Var, Météo France has also placed the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and Vaucluse on alert, in an episode scheduled to last until Monday 4:00 p.m.

190 firefighters in the Gard

A Cévennes episode had already started on Sunday, giving for example “more than 350 mm in the Villefort region”, in Lozère, and more generally 150 to 200 mm in the Cévennes massifs.

In the Gard, where 190 firefighters have been deployed in prevention since Sunday 1:00 p.m., including two groups of whitewater rescuers, interventions remained “limited” for the time being, said the prefecture. However, 1,200 customers are deprived of electricity, following falling trees.

“These Cévennes rains will subside this evening and at the beginning of the night, the rain-storm system shifting towards the east. It will then be necessary to be attentive to the accumulations on the Vaucluse, the Bouches-du-Rhône and the Var which could be affected by heavy precipitation of a stormy nature ”, with precipitation of the order of 80 to 100 mm expected in less than three hours, warns Météo France.

“As with any Mediterranean autumn event, it is advisable to keep regularly informed of the evolution of the situation, elements of aggravation which can occur quickly”, insists the monitoring body.
