Impressions of the celebrants in Kiel

Kiel. The KSV made the sensation perfect with a draw against Fortuna Düsseldorf: Holstein Kiel is promoted. The people in Kiel celebrated the success on Saturday evening with a storm, a car parade and fireworks. Even before the Holstein Kiel game against Fortuna Düsseldorf, thousands of KSV supporters had marched through Kiel: The fan march was intended to warm up the storks before the home game. To support Holstein Kiel, many fans came to the forestry nursery in blue outfits in the afternoon. From there they walked through the city for around an hour until they arrived at the Holstein Stadium. In between, firecrackers and Bengalos were set off again and again. According to a police spokeswoman, the situation remained calm in the afternoon. The Holstein-Kiel fan march was accompanied by around 70 police officers. Some football fans also stayed at the public viewing in the forestry tree nursery. According to police information, around 2,000 people watched the game there.

Holstein Kiel is rising: motorcade on the Westring, party at the boat harbor

Immediately after the final whistle of the game against Fortuna Düsseldorf, fans ran onto the pitch in the Holstein Stadium to cheer on their team. Some were apparently too early: shortly before the end of the second half, around 200 fans stormed onto the field, according to police reports.

A little later, motorcades drove through the city along the Westring, among other places. People gathered at various places in Kiel to celebrate, for example at the boat harbor in downtown Kiel and at Jürgen-Klinsmann-Platz. Pyrotechnics could also be seen again and again.

After midnight, the police drew a positive conclusion from the operation. The Holstein Kiel game against Fortuna Düsseldorf went without any major incidents, said a spokeswoman. Although reports were made about the burning of pyrotechnics in the stadium, there were currently no injuries as a result of the fireworks. After the game there was a relaxed celebration overall.

Even if the atmosphere is already lively on Saturday evening – the official promotion party is still to come. As Holstein Kiel announced on Instagram, the celebration will take place on Whit Monday. The club initially did not provide any further details.
