“The simple things” in the cinema: On the mountain pasture there is koan sense – culture

Lambert Wilson, brilliant as always, in the somewhat failed French comedy The Simple Things.

Pierre (Grégory Gadebois) simply has to be a nice guy – although he says almost nothing, which makes characterization difficult. But only a very nice person would put up with the nuisance he found on his doorstep: the hyperactive CEO Vincent (Lambert Wilson) has broken down in his car in the lonely area in the mountains where Pierre lives, and soon he’s stuck in his scrambled eggs and doesn’t stop chattering. Pierre quickly gets rid of the annoying intruder, but it turns out to be a boomerang: Back in civilization, Vincent finally runs out of words, unfortunately in a live interview on television, and he quickly finds himself standing in front of the little house in the mountains again to hide there from his entourage of assistants and to rent a room to relax.
