The region freezes canteen prices in high schools for the most precarious families

Good news in times of inflation. This Thursday, the Île-de-France region voted in the permanent committee to freeze prices for certain families for the start of the 2023 school year. “The Île-de-France region has decided to freeze prices for the fourth consecutive year for the categories from A to G, in order to protect the purchasing power of families,” she explains in a press release.

Thus, for the fourth consecutive year, families affected by the first seven installments of the family quotient will see school catering prices frozen and meals at 0.50 euros maintained for high school students from the most modest families.

A cost of 2.2 million euros for the region

A gesture of 2.2 million euros for the region due to food inflation. A decision justified by James Chéron, the UDI vice-president of Valérie Pécresse in charge of high schools to our colleagues from BFM-TV : “Regional elected officials have decided both to give establishments more means to take account of inflation for the purchase of foodstuffs and to preserve the purchasing power of Ile-de-France families. »

The region recalls that “the real price of school catering meals in high schools in Île-de-France is around 10 euros” which means that “all families benefit from catering aid of the order of 60% of the cost of the meal”.
