The “reboot” will focus on gaming and less on reality TV, promises TF1

We will once again have to be wary of appearances… After seven years of absence, “Secret Story” will return to TF1 on Tuesday April 23 from 11:30 p.m. (just after “Koh-Lanta”), with Christophe Beaugrand hosting. It will then be broadcast daily at 5:30 p.m. (at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday), rebroadcast at 7:30 p.m. on TFX. This Wednesday, during a press conference, the channel and the production company Endemol provided more information on this new version of the cult reality show…

“The watchword will be: game, game, game,” announces Julien Degroote, the director of development and creation of TF1 who insists on the fact that this “reboot” will give priority to the dimension playful and will turn away from the reality TV aspect. Objective: for the show to be “family” and “good-natured”. It will be a “feel good” season that “no one will watch in secret,” says Christophe Beaugrand.

Not a cast of “instagramers”

“We have to find the right balance between the fundamentals of the game of the time and what the public expects today,” notes Rémi Faure, the head of TF1’s streaming programs. Clearly, unlike previous seasons, no clashes behind Plexiglas windows on the program. “We want to create a fortress safe family, like the rest of our shows. This means hunting for profiles borderline [limite], to mechanics creating violence or animosity. »

“For the casting, we saw people who were playful and, above all, fun. That’s very important, continues Rémi Faure. We didn’t want Instagrammers who came to show off their new tattoos and their redone bodies. » According to production, no less than 22,000 people submitted their applications.

A space of a thousand square meters and 73 cameras

The House of Secrets is being built in a warehouse in Poissy (Yvelines). With the garden, it will extend over 1,000 square meters – the swimming pool alone, in the shape of a sink, will be 40 square meters. 73 cameras will follow the actions of the candidates, the number of which has not been specified.

On the device side, the channel will play complementarity with TF1 +. Eliminations will take place during the Friday daily. Subsequently, an on-set debrief presented by Christophe Beaugrand will be broadcast from 6:30 p.m. on the group’s platform. Lives on TF1 will be limited to two two-hour sessions each day, late morning and early evening.
