The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 starts with 35% more performance, 45% better efficiency and aptX Lossless

According to Qualcomm, the new Adreno graphics chip offers 25 percent better performance than the previous model. The GPU supports ray tracing, an h.265 and VP9 decoder, as well as support for Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HLG, OpenGL ES 3.2, OpenCL 2.0 and Vulkan 1.3. The integrated Snapdragon X70 5G modem is said to work more efficiently thanks to artificial intelligence, while the FastConnect 7800 can transmit data wirelessly at up to 5.8 Gbit/s thanks to Wi-Fi 7.

The integrated Bluetooth 5.3 chip supports 3D audio with head tracking, aptX Lossless, aptX Adaptive and Bluetooth LE audio. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is said to achieve 4.35 times faster AI performance while capable of capturing both 200-megapixel photos and 8K HDR videos.

The ISP allows up to 30 frames per second to be recorded simultaneously by three 36 MP cameras. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 can run 4K displays at 60Hz and QHD+ screens at 144Hz. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 should soon be found in the first smartphones, starting with the Xiaomi 13 and Samsung Galaxy S23.
