The PS says it has the executive’s agreement for an increase for single-parent families

In the National Assembly, the PS obtained a gift for precarious single-parent families, even if it remains to be materialized this Wednesday. The Socialist deputies in fact affirmed on Tuesday that they had obtained the agreement of the government in favor of their proposal to increase the Christmas bonus for these families, “to the tune of an additional 115 to 200 euros per household”.

PS deputy Philippe Brun indicated that he would defend an amendment in this direction on Wednesday, as part of the examination of the so-called “end of management” finance bill for 2023, a text allowing adjustments of credits for the current budget year. The socialist group plans to abstain during the overall vote on the text, once this amendment has been obtained.

“A real breakthrough”, according to Philippe Brun

“As part of the discussion with the government, which has committed not to use 49.3 on the end-of-management finance bill, we made the proposal to provide additional support to single-parent families. more in difficulty,” indicated Philippe Brun. “The adoption of this amendment this Wednesday will constitute real progress for these particularly precarious families,” he rejoiced.

According to the explanatory memorandum of the socialist amendment, “the cost of this exceptional aid would be 70 million euros” and “should concern around 500,000 families”. This “exceptional aid” would be intended for single-parent families living below the poverty line, “via an increase in the Christmas bonus”.
